TubeAdFree ("we", "our", or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our browser extension.

TL;DR: We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Period.

Information We DON'T Collect

TubeAdFree is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do NOT:

• Collect personal information: We don't collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information.
• Track your browsing: We don't monitor which websites you visit or what videos you watch.
• Store user data: We don't maintain any databases or servers that store your information.
• Use analytics: We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking tools.
• Share data with third parties: Since we don't collect data, there's nothing to share.
• Use cookies: The extension doesn't set or use any cookies for tracking purposes.

How TubeAdFree Works

TubeAdFree operates entirely locally in your browser:

• All ad-blocking and ad-skipping operations happen on your device
• No data is sent to external servers
• Statistics (ads blocked, time saved) are stored locally using Chrome's storage API
• Your viewing history and preferences never leave your browser

Required Permissions Explained

TubeAdFree requests the following browser permissions. Here's why we need them:

1. declarativeNetRequest

Purpose: To block ad-related network requests using Chrome's built-in ad-blocking API.

Privacy Impact: None. This permission allows us to filter requests without accessing their content.

2. scripting

Purpose: To inject our ad-skipping script into YouTube pages.

Privacy Impact: None. The script only interacts with YouTube's video player to skip ads automatically.

3. storage

Purpose: To save your preferences and statistics (ads blocked count) locally on your device.

Privacy Impact: None. Data is stored locally and never transmitted anywhere.

4. tabs

Purpose: To detect when you're on a YouTube page and activate the extension.

Privacy Impact: None. We only check if a tab URL contains "youtube.com" - we don't read page content.

Local Data Storage

The only data stored by TubeAdFree is:

• Statistics: Number of ads blocked, ads skipped, and time saved
• Extension State: Whether the extension is enabled or disabled
• User Preferences: Your custom settings (if any)

All this data is stored locally using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API and is never transmitted over the internet.

Open Source Transparency

TubeAdFree is 100% open source. You can:

• View our complete source code on GitHub
• Audit the code yourself to verify our privacy claims
• Contribute improvements or report issues

Third-Party Services

We don't use any third-party services. TubeAdFree doesn't integrate with:

• Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Social media tracking (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
• Error tracking services
• Content delivery networks (CDNs)

Children's Privacy

TubeAdFree does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect data at all, there are no age restrictions.

GDPR Compliance

TubeAdFree is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) because:

• We don't collect or process personal data
• No data transfer occurs outside your device
• You have complete control over your local data (can clear it anytime)
• No consent is required since no data is collected

CCPA Compliance

TubeAdFree complies with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) because:

• We don't sell personal information (we don't collect any)
• No data sharing with third parties occurs
• No personal information is retained

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it anytime by:

• Clicking the "Reset Stats" button in the extension popup
• Uninstalling the extension (removes all local data)
• Using Chrome's "Clear browsing data" feature

Updates to This Policy

If we ever change our data practices (which we don't plan to), we will:

• Update this Privacy Policy
• Change the "Last Updated" date at the top
• Notify users through the extension (if the change is significant)
